
The heavily wooded town of McLean is located between the George Washington Parkway and the town of Vienna and is known for its upscale homes and small town atmosphere despite its proximity to the capital. The area is also well-known for its shopping and upscale malls including the nearby Tysons Corner malls and the Galleria. McLean is also home to many diplomats and government employees. McLean was founded in 1910 when the communites of Lewinsville and Langley merged. The town is named after John R. McLean who was the publisher of the Washington Post.
Depending on your choice you may live closer in to the downtown area of McLean or live on a larger estate type home on a smaller lot. McLean is home to the CIA and only minutes from Washington D.C. McLean borders on Great Falls, Tyson’s Corner, and Arlington. This area is convenient to a quick drive to Kennedy Center activities, downtown restaurants, or Arlington activities and restaurants.
Shopping is downtown McLean, Tyson’s Corner or into Washington D.C.
High Schools are McLean, Langley, or Marshall. Private schools are Bishop O’Connell or The Potomac School.
Main Arteries are Georgetown Pike, Chain Bridge Road (also known as Dolley Madison or 123), and Old Dominion.
The community of Langley is a part of McLean.
