Northern Virginia Real Estate

Clifton is a small town, previously having a railroad stop next to the Heritage Inn.  The Heritage Inn is today a quaint restaurant, but during the Civil War, it served as an Inn as well.  It is said that General and Mrs. Grant stayed there among many other notables from the Civil War era.  Clifton is nearer the location of Civil War Battles of Manassas’ and is also rich in Civil War history.

Today, the area is characterized primarily by large estates, many with horses; secondly by developments of larger estate sized homes; thirdly by subdivisions as you get closer to Centreville.  The old downtown area is a quaint spot for tea at the Heart ‘n’ Hand or a sumptuous dinner at the Heritage Inn.  You will occasionally see horses and riders along the rolling roads as you meander under the trees.

Public transportation used by most living in the area depends on which part of Clifton you reside in.  You may choose the Virginia Railway Express (VRE) either Manassas Park or Burke or use the Vienna Metro.  There are Park and Rides as well as Metro Bus pick ups along Stringfellow/Union Mill Road.

High Schools serving the area are Centreville and Fairfax.  Private Schools would be Paul IV and it’s feeder schools.
