Alexandria has a rich history farther back than George Washington. The Revolutionaries used to meet in Gadsby’s Tavern where you can still have an “authentic to the time” meal today. Stroll the streets of “Old Town” where Washington and his friends also walked. This is a thriving community and area that though is rooted in history, gracefully purports itself in 21st century Virgina.
Old Town features scores of stores and boutiques, restaurants, The Torpedo Factory which features local artists (torpedos were actually built there before and during WWII) and a marina. Homes in Old Town are characterized by townhomes and condominiums, some of which are historic buildings. Immediately surrounding Old Town are the communities of Del Ray and Rosemont featuring beautiful old homes within walking distance to Old Town.
Public Transportation available: the King St Metro, Braddock St Metro and the Virginia Railway Express (VRE).
The high school is T.C. Williams and private schools are Bishop Ireton, Episcopal High School and their feeder schools.
